Coming our way 11th April 2017, Abrams release the latest in their fantastic series of books looking at the classic Topps cards. We’ve seen looks at the original trilogy of releases and Star Wars Galaxy 1 and now we delve into the massively popular Widevision series, starting with series one.
The successful “Star Wars Widevision” series from Topps is collected in a book, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the first Star Wars film.
After the successful release of several trading card series based on the original Star Wars film series (1977-83) Topps released the first edition of their Widevision series in 1995. These special cards were the same as the conventional Topps trading card, but twice as wide – a format which reproduced the wide extent of the films better. Now for the first time all cards, even rare promotional cards and limited edition trading cards, are printed in a luxurious collection. This new volume includes the front and back of each card, which in turn have original storyboards, interesting facts, quotes from the filmmaker, behind the scenes photos and exclusive commentary by George Lucas. In addition, four bonus cards are included as well as rare promotional images, an introduction by Gary Gerani, the original editor of the Star Wars series of Topps, and an afterword by Star Wars collector Stephen J. Sansweet.
