Becca Benjamin over at The Cantina Cast takes a look at Rogue One and asks why Jyn should trust in the Force, in a galaxy overshadowed by the military might of the Empire and the darkness of the sith.
Over the past week, we have received two new trailers and a TV spot for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that has focused primarily on Jyn Erso, her closest extensions (Lyra and Galen), and the Force. Of course, the blaster fire of battle is predominately playing throughout the background, but the “meat and potatoes” surrounds Jyn Erso, and who she really is.
So, who is Jyn Erso? Well, we already know the obvious. She is the one who infiltrates the Death Star Plans and transmits them to Princess Leia Organa. Still, why Jyn? Ok, so her Dad has spent most of his life working on this powerful weapon known as the Death Star, and so, one would assume she’d have some knowledge of what he was doing. Yeah, I can see how that would make sense, but still, what’s so “special” about Jyn?
