So what does the future hold for Star Wars products at Corgi International? Well as reported Corgi decided not to pursue the renewal of the Star Wars licence which expires at the end of this year. This means that they will not be making any more of any older lines in the Master Replica range. Any stock that exists is being sold now and once that’s gone, then that really is it. The message is that if you’re holding off on buying Master Replica product and your local dealer only has a few pieces left then don’t wait too long or you may be disappointed. FX Lightsabres in particular may appear to be stocked high but this really is the last of the available stock and Corgi themselves don’t have many left to sell on.
One of the last Master Replicas Star Wars products will be the new Build Your Own FX Lightsabre kit. This will be available in the UK at Toys R Us as an exclusive before the end of the year. We’ll have more details on this in due course.
In the meantime Corgi is concentrating on the Halo brand, amongst other things, while the James Bond range is expected to be unveiled at Toy Fair (only 3 months away).
