Jedi News Book Review – The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles

Anyone who has read any of the previously-released books featuring incredible cross-sections of vehicles from the Star Wars universe will already be familiar with the outstanding talents of Richard Chasemore.  In The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles, he is joined by regular Star Wars author, Jason Fry, and between them, they provide details on a multitude of starships, fighters, assault craft and a myriad of other forms of transport drawn (no pun intended) from the tales of The Clone Wars that have graced our television screens over the past 3 years.

Following a brief introduction that explains the reasons for the development of an ever-increasing array of vessels on both sides, the book covers everything ranging from warships, starfighters and ground vehciles, to private sloops, freighters and illegally modified pirate craft.

Each vehicle is accompanied by a short data file, providing pertinent information which includes, among other things, the manufacturer, model and class, weapons and affiliation.  Along with select notes describing particular aspects of each craft, further commentary is provided to describe the vehicle, and on occasion, references are made as to its involvement in The Clone Wars series.  Sometimes this will involve a brief mention of the vehicle’s usage, whilst other times, a more-detailed analysis of the craft’s participation in a particular episode will be given.  The book is littered with screenshots from the series, but the real treasure is the cross-sections of eight vehicles showing the intricate detailing and inner workings of such craft as the Twilight, the V-19 Torrent and the Pirate Tank.

As with the other cross-section books, fans will likely find themselves discovering previously-unseen details on subsequent readings, due to the level of detail that is included in the cross-sections.  Whilst being a great reference guide for the vast number of vehicles seen in The Clone Wars, the book also provides further insight into the circumstances that led to their creation and would make a fine addition to any Star Wars fan’s library.

The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles is available now, direct from DK Canada, priced at $21.99.
