The great Rebel heroes Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia have travelled to the gamblers world of Vorzyd 5. Their mission is to rendezvous with fellow Alliance members and destroy the Emperor’s main source of funding. But the Rebels are ambushed and become held captive by Darth Vader’s new ally, the mysterious Blackhole.
As Artoo and Threepio are the only remaining “Alliance members” left free they must carry out their duty. After investigating the crime scene where their masters were taken they soon discover that their allies can be found on a Hrakian spaceship. But the ship is under close protection so they must first diverge a plan to get aboard and save the day.
After creating a cunning plan to gain access to the ship using a drunk Hrakian as a pass they rush to the main consoles. But will they make it in time as Blackhole is growing tired of the Rebels arrogance to give up. He has called in an Imperial Probe droid to interrogate them which could prove fatal. And even if they did get free, would they make it out the highly guarded ship?
The Review
In the second issue of the trip down memory lane (for some) the reader will get to indulge on some intense action between Rebels and Imperials. Half the issue focuses on the heroic characters of Luke, Leia, Paxin and Falud (Of who I did mistake as Han and Chewie in my last review). And the second half focuses more on the clumsy pair of droids of which get into all sorts of sadistic trouble.
The action scenes in the first half are intense and fast paced with laser shots flying everywhere and constant movement of the characters. This really grabs the classic entailment of the Sci-fi action. While in the second half the action is shown with the uses of solid vibrant colours and minimalistic movement giving the reader a physical feel of the action.
This constant sighting of characters failing to physically grab the mysterious figure known as Blackhole also plants a seed of doubt that the person even exists and isn’t just some hoax on both the Empire and Rebellion. This then sparks the reader to carry on reading as they want to find out who this mysterious character is. So overall this series is turning out to be a truly original storyboard reflecting the imagination and possibilities embroidered within the Saga.
