Writer Randy Stradley, artist Doug Wheatley, colourist Dan Jackson and cover artist Benjamin Carre launch the latest story in the Dark Times series.
The Review
The comic starts out intensely with Vader on the move and an unseen Jedi telling his little alien friend to flee. Meanwhile stormtroopers are repelled with unorthodox tactics, with Vader smartly taking the “high ground” The story then (following typical technique) cuts back weeks earlier as Dass Jennir plans his assault on the Empire, with his allies. Meanwhile Falco Sang is restless.
The comic was all in all, a good start to a new series, but not one that a new reader could just jump into. The comic can be very confusing if one had not read the previous arcs, and that being said, draws heavily on other storylines that may be very familiar to comic lovers who have read Ghost Prison or The Hidden Blade.
Vader is always an interesting character to tell a story around and the continuing saga of Falco Sang and Dass Jennir is as always fun and highly anticipated. The artwork is fantastic and the cre of the Uhumele is diverse and candy for the eyes, if one is into seeing different aliens in one space. The character of Beyghor, the Verpine Jedi is an instantly likeable character as he is intimidating and cool in the face of a hopeless situation. I would love to see him go blade to blade with Vader. As for cliffhangers, this delievers. Who is Dass Jennir’s Jedi friend that he plans to recruit, and what on Coruscant is he trying to have built without the others, (not even Ember), finding out!!!!
