Oh The Places I Would Go: Endor (Forest Moon)

I wanted to do a never ending series over the places I would love to visit in the Star Wars Universe. I will continue my series with my top 5 planets to visit. Much of my detailed information about the planets is coming from the Star Wars Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. My love for these planets comes from all kinds of different places. Let’s all hop in our X Wing and take off (oh and don’t forget your R2 unit).

Endor (Forest Moon)

  • Terrain: Forest, Savanna and Mountains
  • Length of Day: 18 standard hours
  • Length of Year: 402 local days
  • Endor is actually a moon rather than a planet and it is said to orbit a gas giant planet known in Ewokese as Tana. The most common species on the planet are Ewoks. These were first seen in the films in Return of the Jedi. Since then we have seen the moon of Endor in the Ewok films Caravan of Courage and Battle For Endor.

This is quite possibly one of my favorite “planets”. It is so rugged and just has a wildness to it that is yet so earthy. Probably because it was filmed on location in California and not done through CGI. One of the things I like about it is that over time in the galaxy and even with the occupation of the Rebellion and Empire the moon is till quite remote. The moon has managed to keep its integrity and has still provided opportunities for its inhabitants.

We don’t have a whole lot of information about Endor other than what we have seen in the films but we have seen that the planet gives rise to strong characters, intelligent species’ and very inventive and creative species as well. Just because the planet does not have the same technology as other planets it does not mean that they are any less developed.
