Ever one for hyperbole and the over-dramatic, it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave Jedi News, and with it, essentially bring JediNews.ca to a close.
The decision has not been an easy one to make, and I have been wrestling with it for a while now. However, my overarching feeling is that with JediNews.co.uk having established itself as the UK’s #1 Star Wars news site, JediNews.ca has never managed to step out of its shadow and sadly I don’t see that ever changing.
After nearly five years, I am still amazed at what Jedi News has achieved and feel immensely proud to have been instrumental in making that happen. I think that it is fair to say that when the countdown ticked over at 9am on May 4th 2007 to show the home page for the first time, I never imagined that the site would accomplish so much in such a relatively short period of time. That in no small part is down to the individuals that have been involved in making Jedi News the site you know today. Which leads me to my next point…
I want to take this opportunity to thank both James and Mark for their understanding and wish them every success with the site moving forward. I’ve no doubt that there will be greater things to come from them in the future. Furthermore, to the other members of the team, I want to thank you for your contributions to the site and your support along the way. And last but not least of all, I also want to offer my thanks to our readers, who have rallied behind the site in a big way since we launched just a few months before Celebration Europe in 2007.
As seems to so often be the case, I’ve no intention of disappearing from the Star Wars community completely. I just need to evaluate what part I can play in contributing to the Canadian collecting community and see where that path leads me.
So with that, I wish you all au revoir, and since my customary farewell would appear oddly self-serving, I shall simply say, May the Force be with You…Always!
