My good friend, Dave Tree, has been working very hard on bringing the Palitoy archive to Celebration Europe. Here’s what he has to say and make sure you pop by and have a look at the exhibit next week…
The name Palitoy may stir many emotions among long time collectors. It was the licenced distributor of the original Star Wars toys in the UK. As part of the events and shows at Celebration Europe, we are proud to welcome The Palitoy Archive.
Organised and researched by UK Collector David Tree this exhibition will publicly display for the first time since the Original Trilogy a collection of the UK Palitoy issued Star Wars products from the late 1970’s to mid 80’s. A rare amalgamation of several UK collections to showcase the various Star Wars products that were under licence by Palitoy, from carded action figures to vehicles, 12″ dolls to Die-Cast toys, Role Play toys to Play Doh sets. The exhibit will also provide a retrospective insight into the company history, a look into the factory based in Leicester UK, the packaging variations to the US based Kenner products as well as rare shop displays and examples of the original press/tv advertisements.
“This will be a trip down memory lane for old fans whilst a fascinating insight to the original toys to new fans.” Says David Tree “With the help of several UK Star Wars collectors, we have assembled an exciting unique exhibit that has never been seen by the majority of toy collectors in the UK, let alone the rest of the world.“
