Star Wars Where Science Meets Imagination – Viva Mos Vegas

Star Wars could be coming to Sin City. Plans are afoot to bring Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination to the Las Vegas strip for a six month engagement, with thoughts to extend if the attraction proves popular enough.

With the much-missed Star Trek: The Experience having closed two years ago there’s certainly a hunger for similar attractions in Vegas, and the presence of Star Wars is sure to bring more visitors to the gambling capital of the world.

Game Details:

LAS VEGAS (CBS) – A Las Vegas developer, Order 66 Entertainment LLC, has plans to bring George Lucas’ movie franchise to the Strip. Will ‘The Force’ be with them?

Plans were submitted to the Clark County Planning Commission recently to locate a Star Wars museum on Las Vegas Boulevard, between the Monte Carlo and New York-New York.

The proposal was submitted by a company controlled by Jay Bloom, who recently opened the Mob Experience at the Tropicana. The land where the museum is planned would be on the site of the old CityCenter residential sales office, which is owned by MGM Resorts International.

The museum would be named Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, and would showcase props, costumes and models from the blockbuster movies.

The design would utilize the 20,622-square-foot space in the current two-story office building. The first floor would be used for a museum and shopping, and the second floor would be offices.

The plan indicates that the museum would be broken up into seven exhibit spaces, each representing a different theme. According to VegasINC.com, one planned example is an exhibit called Getting Around, which would display various vehicles from the Stars Wars movies.

Interestingly enough, the Star Wars museum is not planned to be a long-term attraction. Bloom stated in his submitted plan that the museum would only be open for six months, but some are speculating that time period would be a ‘trial run’ to assess the attractions viability.

No timeline for development is listed in the plan.

Longtime fans will recogize that Order 66 Entertainment gets its name from a command given to Clone Troopers in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
