What Star Wars Games Could We See in the Future?

Star Wars is a unique and pioneering movie franchise in many ways. The phenomenon began back before it was even released, with George Lucas accepting a pay cut in exchange for the merchandising rights to the film.

Of course, we all know that the film’s creator did very well out of that deal, but his business savvy wasn’t enough to make this happen. After all, how many people do you know that own memorabilia for unpopular sci-fi films like Max Steel (2016), Left Behind (2014), or Battlefield Earth (2000)?

Star Wars helped to make the genre popular and got entire generations excited about space and science in general.

This legacy lives on today through the new movies and TV shows, as well as through its video games, of which there are many.

These video games range from those related to the movie episodes themselves, such as Episode IV: A New Hope which was released for arcade machines back in 1983, to crossovers like LEGO Star Wars and Angry Birds Star Wars.

But while there are many different Star Wars games already in existence, there’s still room for new ideas to find a place in a galaxy far, far away.

Online Slots

Video slot games are one of the most popular categories in online casinos, thanks to the variety that is available to players.

To offer this variety, sites that host online slots have partnered with many movie and television IP owners to create branded games like Jurassic Park Gold, Game of Thrones Power Stacks, Anna Van Helsing Monster Huntress, and Terminator 2 Online Slot.

These games help to appeal to both fans of the shows/films and those that enjoy playing slots in general, widening the overall audience.

So while no Star Wars-themed slot games exist right now, it is very possible we could see one in the future.

Battle Royale

Battle Royale became one of the most popular video game genres in recent years, thanks to Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone helping to attract players into the format.

They all work slightly differently, but the basic premise remains the same. They start with a large number of players (often around 100) who are dropped onto a map with little or no tools and weapons.

They’re tasked with searching the map for tools, weapons, and materials to help them to build fortresses, defend them, and go on the offensive.

But to make things more interesting, the map will slowly start to shrink as time passes, forcing the remaining players into a smaller and smaller space.

The winner is the one left standing by the end.

This would work great in the Star Wars universe with characters from the lore being dropped onto different planets.

Given that this format is so popular and Star Wars fans are always hungry for more content, it is bound to be a huge hit.

Beat Lightsaber

Beat Saber is a hugely successful virtual reality video game that tops the charts in most VR software marketplaces.

It’s a modern take on the traditional dance mat games that enjoyed success in the late 1990s and 2000s by taking the moving-to-music concept and adapting it for VR.

Instead of players stomping on squares, they move their arms to swipe through blocks in time to the music.

This would fit perfectly with the Star Wars franchise, with players wielding their lightsabers to songs from the Star Wars soundtrack.

Star Wars Kart

There have been several Star Wars-themed racing games over the years, though most have revolved around podracers seen in The Phantom Menace.

While most of these games were successes and one was even rereleased for modern hardware recently, perhaps a Mario Kart-style arcade racer might have broader appeal.

This could either take the form of podracing but with Star Wars-themed powerups, or it could more closely replicate the arcade kart racing games that have been hugely successful for several decades.

The most important factor here would be to ensure the powerups were entertaining and helped to level the playing field rather than simply act to magnify any advantages that some players may have.
