Senator Amidala’s campaign for a peaceful resolution to the war with the Separatists continues. Despite her best efforts, the Senate passed a bill to deregulate the banks. Now, the Senate is poised to pass legislation authorizing a loan from the Banking Clan and the purchase of millions of new clones. Padmé knows this bill would be disastrous for the finances of the Republic and catastrophic for any potential peace discussions. While she and Senator Organa attempt to rally the opposition to the bill, Count Dooku attempts to influence the vote through intimidation of the Senators.
