We review the four Hogwarts Moment sets featuring the Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology and Charms Classes released in January 2021.

Review
The 4 sets on review here all revolve around a specific class at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry and are referred to as a Hogwarts Moment. The four classes represented by these sets are Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology and Charms. The Hogwarts Moment is put together as a book which can be closed up and put on your shelf, although there is not space inside for the minifigures. Once opened, each unique class offers lots of furniture and accessories for play.
Each set costs the same, features three minifigures of which one is a teacher and the other two are students, and differ on their content and piece count — Transfiguration has 241 pieces, Potions has 271 pieces, Herbology has 233 pieces and finally Charms has 256 pieces.
The packaging consists of a portrait box showcasing each of the books and the minifigures inside, with the respective teacher of each class and the two students included. The bottom right-hand corner of the box shows the set opened up.
Inside the Box
Each set includes two numbered bags, two 16×10 amended plates (one of which is printed the Hogwarts crest), a 2×16 plate, a sticker sheet, and the instructions.
These sets all fold up into what looks like a book, the contents sandwiched between the two 16×10 amended plates, with the book being just 4 studs wide.
The Build
Considering that all the builds need to be held within the confines of two 16×10 modified plates that is only 4 studs wide, the builds are fairly simple although in most cases they feature fold-out elements that expand the stage once the book has been ‘opened’.
Each of the books is made up of 32 elements and the main color of the book is different in each of the four sets — Transfiguration is earth-orange, Potions is sand-green, Herbology is dark-tan and Charms is medium-blue. The sticker sheet contains stickers for the spines of the books, to decorate each classroom and some color to some of the smaller builds.
Transfiguration Class (#76382)
This set includes a blackboard, 2 desks, 2 chairs, treasure chest, storage cupboard, spell book and lots of authentic accessories. The minifigures are Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Professor McGonagall, of which all are unique to this set. Granger and Weasley are wearing the same Gryffindor uniforms, and McGonagall includes a book with a unique spell print. All three feature two face expressions.
Potions Class (#76383)
This set includes a potion book, blackboard, armchair, table, secret chamber and a dungeon backdrop. The minifigures are Draco Malfoy, Seamus Finnigan and Professor Snape, of which all are unique to this set. Snape’s book also has a unique spell print, and here the two students are wearing uniform from Slytherin and Gryffindor respectively. All three feature two face expressions.
Herbology Class (#76384)
This set includes a spell book, pumpkin patch, watering station with bucket and golden faucet, and a greenhouse backdrop. The minifigures are Cedric Diggory, Neville Longbottom and Professor Sprout, of which all are unique to this set and include two facial expressions. Sprout too comes with a unique spell print. Incidentally, the included Mandrakes supplied here are different to those found in the Collectable Minifigure collection.
Charms Class (#76385)
This set includes a blackboard, bookshelf, fireplace, spell book and lots of authentic accessories. The minifigures are Harry Potter, Cho Chang and Professor Flitwick, of which all are unique to this set and feature two facial expressions. Harry is wearing his Gryffindor uniform, Cho is in her Ravenclaw uniform, and Flitwick’s spell book includes a non-unique spell, reusing the levitation charm from previous releases.
Overall
These sets may have taken inspiration from the Disney Storybook Adventures or perhaps the LEGO Ideas Pop-up Book (#21315), and as a fan of the latter we have to admit to really liking these sets. We asked the Marcos Bessa, Design Director of the Harry Potter theme, about his favorite sets for 2021 during Fan Media Days, and he pointed to these four sets due to their ingenuity, fun and execution. We would have to agree with him, although there are a couple of detractors — first is the heavy reliance of stickers, and the second issue is the price! At a cost of £27.99 UK/$29.99 USA each we feel these are a bit over-priced and would be better positioned at least £5 cheaper at £22.99 or $24.99.
For fans of Harry Potter these are a must purchase due to their nature, and the fact they include unique minifigures. Whether you decide to get them all or not, they are a great fun way to show off your LEGO collection, although you may decide to wait until they are on offer or available with double VIP points.
