It’s the second day of December and we take a look what’s waiting for us behind today’s door of the 2021 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (#75307). We also take a look at the Harry Potter (#76390) and Marvel The Avengers (#76196) Advent Calendars too!
This is the eleventh year of the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and for the first time we get a single themed calendar based around the Disney+ show The Mandalorian.
Behind the second door we get another brick built vehicle, albeit a bit of an obscure one, Riot Mar’s starfighter from the first season of The Mandalorian. This build is striking for its narrow yellow fuselage, consisting of 24 pieces (with 5 spares), and the clever use of binoculars as engine nacelles.
As an added bonus, for the third year running we delve into the Harry Potter advent calendar which this year explores Harry’s journey from his aunt’s house to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as seen in the first book/film the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Following yesterday’s Privet Drive sign, today we get out first minifigure and who better than Harry Potter! Harry is wearing some rather shabby clothes, first introduced in the excellent Diagon Alley set (#75978), albeit here with a more generic double-sided face. Fans unable to acquire that set will be pleased to get this figure here, at a much lower price point.
There is another…. following the success of the Star Wars and Harry Potter Advent Calendars, LEGO have introduced a Marvel The Avengers Advent Calendar for the first time.
Following yesterday’s excellent Tony Stark minifigure we had big hopes for today, but all we get is a selection of trans-light blue power blast elements. Whilst these complement yesterday’s minifigure these could have been included in another way perhaps.
