It’s the first day of December which can mean only one thing — lets crack open the 2021 Advent Calendar and see what’s behind the first door! We take a look at the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (#75307), as well as Harry Potter (#76390) and Marvel The Avengers (#76196) too!
This is the eleventh year of the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar and for the first time we get a single themed calendar based around the Disney+ show The Mandalorian. Behind the first door we get a new rendition of Din Darin’s ship the Razor Crest made from 25 pieces, with 7 spares. This version surpasses last year’s version with better proportions, it looks excellent and has plenty of detail despite its diminutive size — a great start!
As an added bonus, for the third year running we delve into the Harry Potter advent calendar which this year explores Harry’s journey from his aunt’s house to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as seen in the first book/film the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
To kicks things off, we get a signpost for Privet Drive along with a letter from Hogwarts all made up of just 7 pieces, with no spares. The printed element looks great and as we open more doors we can add to the board game which follows Harry’s journey, and forms part of the box for the Advent Calendar. This is one of the first things we see on screen/or read so this is a good indication of what’s to come, although perhaps a little lacklustre for the first day.
There is another…. following the success of the Star Wars and Harry Potter Advent Calendars, LEGO have introduced a Marvel The Avengers Advent Calendar for the first time. Behind the first day we get a minifigure of Tony Stark wearing a knitted holiday jumper, similar to those we saw in last year’s Star Wars Advent Calendar, with a large snowflake representing an arc reactor on the front. On the reverse of the torso, the jumper features Tony’s name. A double-sided head is included which has been released before, along with some repulsor blast accessories and trans-blue elements. The minifigure includes Tony’s hair piece and Iron Man mask — that’s another great start!
