Liam Neeson, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in the Star Wars prequels, has landed the lead role in an upcoming Naked Gun reboot and is expected to play the role of Frank Drebin’s son.
The original Naked Gun trilogy from the ’80s starred Leslie Nielsen as Franklin ‘Frank’ Drebin, a good-hearted but inept detective at the centre of a police procedural parody.
Nielsen first played Frank in the short-lived TV series Police Squad!, before the character made his way to the big screen in the 1988 movie The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!.
Akiva Schaffer is set to direct the movie from a script penned by Chip ‘n Dale writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, while Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins will produce the project though their company Fuzzy Door.
