Box Office: ‘The Last Jedi’ Falls To 7th As ‘Jumanji’ Tops Friday In US

Star Wars: The Last Jedi lost 1,142 theaters this weekend in the US, and with all the new releases it fell to seventh place on Friday with a total of ‘just’ $2.723 million.

Walt Disney’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi lost 1,142 theaters this weekend and earned $2.723 million (-56%) on its fifth Friday, setting the stage for an $11.5m (-51%) Fri-Sun/$15.1m Fri-Mon weekend and a month-long domestic cume of $595m. With all the newbies and what not, it fell to seventh place on Friday (for what it’s worth, Force Awakens was in third place with $6m on its 29th day while Rogue One was in fifth place with $3.2m). It’ll cross $600m domestic next week, presumably just ahead of Jurassic World which did it in 36 days. But this may be the weekend that it starts to lag (in terms of legs) Rogue One and The Force Awakens.

The box office take is definitely slowing down, and we’ll provide some further analysis of our own after the weekend’s box office figures are in early next week.
