With all of the trailers/TV spots that were released by Lucasfilm to promote the theatrical release of Rogue One and with the much talked-about reshoots taking place, there was bound to be early footage shown to the public that was not included in the film’s final cut. Slashfilm has posted a very cool article that breaks down the unused marketing campaign footage and deduced as to why each scene/shot was not part of the finished product. Obviously massive spoilers take center stage here, so if you haven’t seen Rogue One yet, you may want to come back to this post at a later date.
Instead of going through each trailer by itself, I decided to order these shots chronologically in the order that they probably would have appeared in the movie. Below you can see the more prominent examples of the Rogue One missing trailer footage alongside my musings on what this tells us about the original cut of the film.
