Gary Whitta & Chris Weitz Talk Rogue One Plot/Character Changes

As a follow-up to their full video that was posted last week, IGN provides us with the clips from that episode of “Watch From Home Theater” that feature Rogue One screenwriters Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz discussing various plot/characters changes that were made throughout the film’s production. Among the changes highlighted in the YouTube video above are the decision to not feature an opening crawl (something Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said we would not see prior to the film’s debut), how Jyn Erso’s mother Lyra was initially depicted as a Jedi in hiding, a much different take on the character Borr Gullet, and more.

IGN just hosted another Watch From Home Theater, this time featuring screenwriters Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz talking about everyone’s favorite Star Wars prequel, Rogue One. Their live commentary track proved to be rather informative, offering new insight into key characters and plot points, while also shedding more light on the ways the film changed during production. Here’s a list of the coolest and most interesting things they revealed.
