Lucasfilm Congratulates ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Opening Weekend Success

After the return of the Star Wars saga to the big screen took place in 2015 with the release of The Force Awakens, it surprised no one that the film achieved the highest opening weekend box office tally in cinema history. The production crew behind Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World sent out their congratulations to Lucasfilm and the entire team responsible for reviving the GFFA under the Disney umbrella.

Fast forward a few years and that opening weekend box office record has since been passed onto a new film as Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War overtook Episode VII for the top spot. And just like the congratulations they received from Universal Pictures in 2015 for their achievement, Lucasfilm has done the same for Marvel via the tweet embedded below as we see Rey extending Luke’s lightsaber to the out-stretched hand of Iron Man in a symbolic “passing of the torch” moment.
