The Force Awakens was originally due to arrive in May 2015 before it was pushed back to December 2015.
The result of that practical decision was $2.2 billion dollars in the bank worldwide, making the seventh Star Wars film the third highest grossing film of all-time, behind Titanic and Avatar.
The Last Jedi and the as-yet-untitled Episode IX will join it as a December release, with the Han Solo standalone coming out next May.
December has been enormously successful for the series.
Rogue One arrived that month last year and brought in $1.1 billion worldwide.
So, why is it so good for Star Wars?
