Olympic Rogue One Teaser Topping Super Bowl Trailers On Social Media

While Lucasfilm and Disney’s task at the moment is to get non-Star Wars fans (and even some less enlightened GFFA fans) to understand where in the timeline this is set it appears that hasn’t hurt the reception to the latest teaser which is going great guns online.

Right now Rogue One: A Star Wars Story appears to be matching last years The Force Awakens in the awareness stakes, which is a very positive indicator for its box office success come December.

After two full days in circulation (Friday and Saturday) online views for Gareth Edwards-directed prequel were at 34.2 million, 14 millions-plus coming from the Star Wars YouTube channel, and another 16 million from Facebook (they don’t specify where the other 4.2 million come from… the Dark Side of the ’Net maybe?).
As such, Rogue One is doing better than the top Super Bowl trailers from February this year, including ones for Captain America: Civil War, Jason Bourne, X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool and The Jungle Book.
