Patty Jenkins Says Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Film Will Not Simply Adapt Previous Video Game Content

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy capped off the Lucasfilm-related portion of this week’s Disney Investor Day 2020 webcast with a whopper of an announcement as she revealed that director Patty Jenkins would be helming a new Star Wars film titled Star Wars: Rogue Squadron set for release during Christmas 2023. While the name of Jenkins’ film sounds very familiar, she reiterated to IGN that her movie will honor certain content that has been released under the Rogue Squadron name in the form of video games and literature in the past, but it will be a completely original production.

“[In the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie] we’re doing something original with great influence from the games and the books,” Jenkins told IGN in an interview. “There’s a lot of things being acknowledged and understood about the greatness of all of those things, but yes, it’s an original story and I’m so psyched to do it.”

We can’t WAIT to see what Jenkins has in store for the Star Wars franchise.
