Resistance Pilot Jessika Pava Originally Planned to Appear in The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brought back numerous characters from across the saga for the final Skywalker film, but fan-favourite Resistance pilot Jessika Pava was missing even though actress Jessica Henwick was asked to reprise her role.

Jessica Henwick, who originally auditioned for the role of Rey and also played Colleen Wing in the Netflix Marvel shows, made her Star Wars debut in The Force Awakens, playing the role of X-wing pilot Pava.

Speaking to Comicbookmovie.com to promote her new movie Love and Monsters, Henwick admitted that there were plans to bring her character back for the final film and discussed why she didn’t end up reprising the role.

“I was supposed to come back for the last film,” she explained. “I don’t actually remember what I was filming at the time, but I wasn’t available.

“It did suck because I would have loved to come back for that small piece but she lives on in the comic books and I think there’s a couple of spin-off books as well that she’s in.”

Henwick added: “It’s kind of fun for me to Google ‘Jess Pava’ and check in with her. It’s like seeing an old friend and finding out what she’s been up to. It’s just weird because she looks like me.”
