Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actor Ben Mendelsohn has joined the cast of upcoming psychological thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter, starring opposite fellow Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley in the Neil Burger movie.
Adapted from Karen Dionne’s book of the same name by Elle Smith and The Revenant writer Mark L Smith, the film follows Helena (Ridley), a young woman who is forced to confront past traumas when her father Jacob Holbrook (Mendelsohn) re-enters her life.
The pair’s relationship is fraught to say the least, as Helena was born during a time when Jacob was holding her mother captive in a remote cabin out in the wilderness, having kidnapped her as a teenager.
According to Deadline, production is expected to begin in Canada next month.
Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game), Keith Redmon (The Revenant) will produce alongside Smith. Black Bear‘s Michael Heimler, Syndicate Entertainment’s Cliff Roberts and Charles Miller are on board as executive producers.
