Lucasfilm’s The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t arrive in theaters till December 20, but it is already making a name for itself in the entertainment world by securing two advance ticket sales records in the short time that tickets have been on sale.
According to Atom Tickets (via this article on IGN), Episode IX had more ticket pre-sales in the first hour that they were on sale than any other film, besting the previous record-holder Avengers: Endgame. Atom Tickets is also reporting (via The Hollywood Reporter) that more advanced ticket sales have been purchased in the first 24 hours for The Rise of Skywalker than any other film in the franchise’s illustrious history. Episode IX also holds the distinction of having the longest runtime of any previous Star Wars film.
Not a bad way to kick off the conclusion to the Skywalker saga.
