The London premiere of the new extended cut of the film Under the Radar: The Mike Edmonds Story screens at London’s Vue Cinema, Lower Regent St. on 26th September 2019. The biopic of the legendary British actor Mike Edmonds forms part of the line-up of screenings at the auspicious Raindance Film Festival and features Colin Firth, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Danny John-Jules alongside Edmonds’ fellow members of the Star Wars family, Robert Watts, Arti Shah, Jimmy Vee, Kevin Thompson and Jeremy Bulloch.
The following is an excerpt from the film’s Press Release:
This compelling and engaging film, produced and directed by Red Stable films’ Simon J. Frith, takes us into the extraordinary world of actor Mike Edmonds, who has starred in countless feature films including STAR WARS, RETURN OF THE JEDI, TIME BANDITS and many more. A great acting talent, a true professional and a person of extraordinary drive, kindness and relentless good humour, Under the Radar is also a tale of triumph in the face of disability – or as Mike amply demonstrates, ability.
While both his parents were of ordinary size, Mike was born with Achondroplasia, or dwarfism, which brings with it a range of challenges both practical and medical. Mike has had to undergo frequent surgery throughout his adult life, while balancing this with a busy schedule of stage and screen roles.
Mike’s story is told through a host of cinema’s most well-known actors, whose often hilarious anecdotes provide rich memories of their working together: Colin Firth, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Robert Watts, Arti Shah, Danny John Jules are also joined by fellow cast members from screen, stage and television, as well as producers, directors, costume designers and a chorus of childhood friends.
The film’s premiere will be followed by a Q&A session with Mike Edmonds, original Star Wars Trilogy Producer Robert Watts, Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules and the Director of Under the Radar, Simon J. Frith.
