We review the three new LEGO Spider-Man sets inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack (#76184), Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop (#76185), and Spider-Man’s Drone Duel (#76195) released in October 2021.

Review
Spider-Man: No Way Home is due out in cinemas on December 15th, 2021, and ahead of the release the LEGO Group has released three Spider-Man sets based on or inspired by the trilogy of Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
This review looks at all three of these sets. The first set, Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack (#76184), is inspired by Spider-Man: Far From Home; the second set, Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop (#76185), is based on Spider-Man: No Way Home; the final set, Spider-Man’s Drone Duel (#76195), is inspired by the first film, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack (#76184) is a 4+ set featuring large LEGO elements for younger builders, whilst the final two sets are suggested for those aged 7+.
Inside the Box
Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack (#76184) comes with two instruction manuals, one for each vehicle, enabling the young builder to easily split the build if needed.
Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop (#76185) is the most expensive of the sets here, twice the price of the others, but offers four unique minifigures from the upcoming film, along with a monster bug and part of the Sanctum workshop. The box contains three numbered bags, instruction manual and sticker sheet.

The Build
Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack (#76184)
The first instruction booklet starts with the building of the Spider-Man and Mysterio minifigures, followed by construction of the disc-shooting drone. The second booklet creates Nick Fury’s minifigure and vehicle. As you would expect for a 4+ set the build is fairly quick and simplistic, but it’s a great introduction to the LEGO system of elements.
The Nick Fury and Spider-Man minifigures have both appeared in other sets, the Avengers Helicarrier (#76153) and Spider-Man Bridge Battle (#30443) respectively. The Mysterio minifigure is unique to this set, featuring magenta trim, a dark azure head, a satin trans-light blue helmet, and a single-hole cape.
Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop (#76185)
The first bag contains more than a quarter of the set’s total number of pieces, the 85 pieces required to build the monster bug. It is also at this stage that we build two of the set’s minifigures, Spider-Man and Wong. The second and third bags contain the elements for the Sanctum workshop, and for the minifugures of Doctor Strange and MJ.
The dark green and black articulated bug features six legs, pincers, a pair of claws and transparent yellow bug-eyes, and the result is particularly scary, with the claws able to grip hold a minifigure. Without some context it is difficult to know what else to say about the inclusion of the bug in this scene, and we look forward to finding out more when the film arrives in cinemas next month.
We have visited Sanctum previously in the MCU and in other LEGO sets, and its depiction here showcases a portal and a rather messy looking workshop, with objects scattered all over the scene. Whilst it looks reasonably good thanks to the inclusion of far too many stickers, some of which are repeated and should have definitely been printed, it is not particularly stable and falls apart easily on moving.
The highlight for many buying this set will be the four exclusive minifigures of Spider-Man, Wong, Doctor Strange and MJ. Spiderman features a printed torso and legs, with large gold accents, although we are surprised there’s no arm printing for such an important figure. Wong has a printed torso and legs, but just a single face expression, whilst MJ features two facial expressions and a printed torso. Finally, Doctor Strange has a printed torso and legs, two facial expressions and the new plastic cape.
Spider-Man’s Drone Duel (#76195)
This set harks back to the first MCU Spider-Man film, Homecoming, and it is important to realise that this set is inspired by the film, rather than have coming directly from it. The first bag contains a new unique version of the film’s main villain, Vulture, and the new printed torso and head look splendid. After constructing Vulture, you move on to create his vast wing assembly, measuring 22cm, based on the advanced equipment the character uses at the end the film, and featuring an articulated turbine on each wing.
The second bag starts with putting together a unique representation of Spider-Man wearing a black suit with dark grey and metallic gold accents, not seen in any of the MCU films to date. The build continues with the main body of the drone, before adding the rotors and supports from the third bag. The completed drone, built using black and gold elements to match Spider-Man’s suit, looks impressive and also features an optional cockpit for our hero. Two stud shooters are integrated behind the cockpit for added play, as is a robotic spider drone hidden in a small storage compartment.
Conclusion
Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack (#76184)
This set is a great introduction to Spider-Man, offering three sought-after characters that children aged 4+ will enjoy playing with to recreate battles.
Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop (#76185)
At twice the price of the two other sets here, it is hard to recommend this set for anything other than the minifigures, at least until we’ve seen the film. Here’s hoping it delivers, and this set depicts a scene in the final cut of the film.
Spider-Man’s Drone Duel (#76195)
If you can ignore that Spider-Man and the drone do not feature in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and accept this set for what it is, then it represents good value for money, offering a couple of unique and excellent minifigures and vehicles that will be fun to play with. We especially like Vulture’s new intimidating wings.
