Jedi News Review: The Official Star Wars Fact File Issue 14

Official Star Wars Fact File rolls on as we look at the formation of the infamous Rule of Two, the Death Stars evil torture droid, the template for the clone army, an Imperial tactical genius, the galaxy’s premier Tibanna gas facility, the weapon of the first sith to fight a jedi for a thousand years and a shuttle of the Trade Federation. Let’s get started.

Battles and Events takes us back a millenia to the time of the Battle of Ruusan, a conflict that led to the formation of the Rule of Two, an ideaology adopted by the sith that lasted until the time of Palpatine. Droids and Machines shines a light on the IT-O Interrogation droid, the machine that injected Princess Leia with truth serums to extract – unsuccessfully – the location of the hidden Rebel base. Humans and Aliens looks at Jango Fett, the bounty hunter recruited by Count Dooku as the template for the secret clone army and his career and affiliations, as well as his battle with Kenobi on Kamino. General Maximillian Veers is also looked at, investigating his past career and outstanding moment commanding the Imperial landing on Hoth.

Planets and Locations sweeps through the clouds of Bespin, focusing on the creation of the facility, its Tibanna gas production and the little-seen wildlife that inhabits it’s floating algae forests, all supplemented by some beautiful McQuarrie pre-production art. Weapons and Technology looks at Darth Maul’s distinct double-bladed lightsaber and Starships and Vehicles get schematical with the Neimoidian Shuttle, transport vessel of the Trade Federation.

It’ll come as no surprise at this juncture that issue 14 is another top-quality addition to the Fact Files, adding and compiling some fascinating facts about the galaxy (I had no idea Bespin’s ecosystem was so diverse) and the next issue is eagerly awaited.
