The synopsis;
This one-of-a-kind maze book set in a galaxy far, far away is a fun, interactive way to explore the Star Wars universe.
Expert maze creator and lifelong Star Wars fan Sean C. Jackson brings the saga to life through more than 30 beautifully illustrated mazes of iconic scenes and locations ranging from the forest moon of Endor to Bespin’s Cloud City, the dark side planet of Exegol, Jabba’s palace, pod races, clone armies, and much more. Each full-color maze includes notes about the environment and special bonus elements to find hidden along the way.
Star Wars fans of all ages will enjoy racing through the corridors of the Death Star, scavenging inside a fallen star destroyer on Jakku, searching the rocky cliffs of Ahch-To, and much more.
The review;
The cover is part of the Death Star maze from within the book. With the addition of a metallic finished Star Wars logo and surround to the title, which stands out nicely. It’s 10-inch square format may not fit on some people’s book shelves, but when you open it up, the scale of the pages allows for complexly drawn mazes that span over the pages.
Sound advice is to trace your route lightly in pencil for two reasons. It’s easier to retrace your steps, should you go wrong, but you can also remove your attempts and then someone else in the family can also take their turn at exploring the mazes.
In a Where’s Wally style format, there are also bonus items to find within each maze. This is a fun addition and adds to the longevity of the book. The solutions are all mapped out at the rear of the book, should you get stuck, just as in any standard book of this type.
But, when you go beyond the challenge to find a route and all the bonus items, it’s the artwork that stands out. Each puzzle is lovingly crafted with plenty of detail. From Tatooine to Dagobah, Bespin to Exegol, Nevarro to Vandor; each setting is littered with nods to the planets and locations we know so well.
While doing a bit of my own research into the book and its author, I visited Jackson’s very own website and I stumbled across his blog article from May 5, 2021. The article takes you inside the conception of the Hoth Rebel Base maze and shows his own sketches and research that led to the creation of the final maze and artwork.
Puzzle books are always a great way to pass the time and Star Wars: Mazes is no exception.
