It’s good to be king. The Force Awakens helped push Star Wars to the top of the video sales charts as 1.98 million sales flew over counters nationwide.

Date collected in a new Franchise Report for the first half of the year puts Star Wars first in the overall rankings and the biggest film franchise, with Game of Thrones topping the list of favourite TV franchises, and Paw Patrol heading up the rundown of children’s franchises.

Across 12 titles, Star Wars racked up over 1.98 million sales, racing ahead of the next biggest franchise of the year so far, James Bond, which has sold 1.63 million units across 45 titles. Game of Thrones reigns supreme over the TV franchises rundown, with 505,000 sales from nine titles, while runner-up Downton Abbey has 138,000 sales in the bag in the first six months of 2016, over 17 titles.
