Whist promoting his new sci-fi film The End of Oak Street, Ewan McGregor spoke to ET’s Cassie DiLaura sharing that he knew of no movement towards a second season of the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series, “there seems to be no progress in that direction”.
McGregor was asked whether a second season was getting closer during the interview. “Come on. I don’t think we are,” McGregor said. The actor confirmed that he knew of no movement toward another season.
“There seems to be no progress in that direction,” McGregor explained. He nevertheless remained hopeful that the situation could eventually change. His comments suggested the project had not moved forward behind the scenes.
Despite the lack of progress, McGregor believes more stories could be told. He pointed to where the original series ended. Obi-Wan was shown leaving with young Luke on a camel.
McGregor connected that ending to Obi-Wan’s later appearance as Alec Guinness. “There’s got to be a good few stories left to tell,” he said. His comments offered a clear reason for continuing Obi-Wan’s story.
Last week, McGregor and co-star Anne Hathaway discussed the potential time period for the second season, and Hathaway shared how she would like to join McGregor in a galaxy far, far away.
The End Of Oak Street, produced by J.J. Abrams and starring Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, with SFX by Industrial Light & Magic, is set for release on August 14th, 2026.
