J.J. Abrams Confirms No Extended Version On The Force Awakens Blu-ray

Theaters continue to be packed with movie-goers eager to fork over their cash to experience director J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars masterpiece (at least that’s what I’m calling it). And as always, excitement for the eventual Blu-ray release of the film has been a hot topic of conversation recently.

In an article posted on Variety, Abrams once again commented on the topic of the inclusion of deleted scenes in the upcoming The Force Awakens Blu-ray, which has been covered in a few stories posted earlier. He confirmed to Variety that the Blu-ray (actually, the DVD version is referenced in the article, but we can assume this applies to the Blu-ray release as well) will contain an assortment of deleted scenes, but will not contain an extended/director’s cut of Episode VII.

This doesn’t mean an extended/director’s cut of the film couldn’t arrive sometime down the road, but one will not be included the initial home media release.
