Latest The Force Awakens Blu-ray Sales Figures: Week Of April 25 – May 1

An article posted yesterday over on Blu-ray.com provides us with the latest sales figures for the release of The Force Awakens on Blu-ray. The film, which earned over $2 billion at the global box office, has been selling exceptionally well (to the surprise of absolutely no one with a pulse) on the home media front since it’s arrival last month.

For the week that ended on May 1st, Lucasfilm and Disney Home Entertainment’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens returned to the top of the Blu-ray-only sales list. The latest installment in the iconic Star Wars franchise made a huge commercial impact when it hit theaters last December. The Force Awakens grossed over $2 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $245-million production budget, and it scored an 81% favorability rating on Metacritic. Furthermore, during its first week on home media, The Force Awakens outsold its remaining nineteen Blu-ray and DVD competitors in the Top 20 VideoScan charts nearly five to one. This week, The Force Awakens had a Blu-ray market share of 66%. However, on the overall package-media list, The Force Awakens came in third place, selling 94% as many total units as that roster’s number-one title, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s The Revenant.
