My latest article lands over at The Metro as I look at the appearance – or lack thereof – of Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens.
With $2.2 billion dollars in the bank and a position as the third most successful movie of all time worldwide, you could be forgiven for thinking that The Force Awakens was beyond reproach. For many fans it is, delighting cinema goers and introducing new characters, worlds and concepts to the many fans of the Star Wars galaxy. Many fans expected Luke to make his appearance much earlier in the film, but in a classic case of brinksmanship, Luke didn’t hit the screen until the last two minutes of the movie. It was breathtaking, iconic, emotional and, in Hamill’s case, silent.
