My latest article lands at The Metro where I take a look at Forces of Destiny, its arrival yesterday and the importance of the show to an ever broadening demographic of female fans.
With an ever-growing percentage of female fans enjoying the series, the new trilogy featuring a dynamic female protagonist, and forthcoming computer game Battlefront 2 highlighting a female lead character, there’s never been a better time to be a female fan enjoying or coming into the saga.
That said, don’t be fooled into thinking that female fans are anything new in the realms of Star Wars fandom – far from it.
Websites like Club Jade and podcasts like Fangirls Going Rogue and Galactic Fashion are at the very core of fandom, while a huge percentage of the Lucasfilm higher-ups are women.
Some older, narrow-minded fans have railed against this, but people need to remember that Star Wars promises just one thing: great stories with great characters fighting the battle of good and evil.
