Rian Johnson On ‘The Last Jedi’ 3-Hour First Cut, Blu-ray Deleted Scenes

Episode VIII director Rian Johnson sat down with Collider to talk about the runtime for the film, which we know will be the longest-running theatrical Star Wars film released to date by Lucasfilm. During the interview, Johnson revealed his initial cut of The Last Jedi clocked in at well over 3 hours in length, resulting in some serious cutdown action. And as for those scenes, with some being entire sequences, that were ultimately dropped from the final approved cut of the film? We can look forward to seeing them as deleted scene bonus content (forget about Lucasfilm including them in an extended edition of the film) in next year’s Episode VIII Blu-ray release.
