In a recent interview he conducted with ET Online, Ewan McGregor confirmed that the upcoming (and currently-untitled) Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series will be comprised of one season’s worth of episodes and that cameras are scheduled to start rolling on the project in the spring of 2021.
As far as McGregor knows (or is willing to openly share), there are no plans to continue the Kenobi series beyond its debut season.
A French Disney+ presentation that took place back in April pegged this new live-action series with a 2022 premiere time frame, so McGregor confirming the spring 2021 filming start makes perfect sense.
McGregor revealed nearly a year ago that the Kenobi Disney+ project was being developed as a series containing six hour-long episodes. Reports then started to surface at the beginning of this year that Lucasfilm was looking to reduce the episode number down to four. So we’ve known for quite some time now that this Kenobi series was going to have a very low production number run.
