Metro recently spoke to Diego Luna about his new drama La Máquina on Disney+, and they also discussed the upcoming return of the second and final season of Andor, and whilst the star could not share much he did say “I can tell you, the wait is worth [it]”.
‘There’s nothing like that,’ the actor said, regarding the love that he’s received from fans since Rogue One came out.
‘The love for Star Wars, the passion that fans have. It’s a very special connection, because I’m a fan too. I really like Rogue One. I’m really proud of what we did there.
‘I really like Andor. I like it as a professional, but also as part of the audience. That connection doesn’t happen often.’
He continued: ‘It happens with this universe and I’m lucky enough to work and belong to a family of very talented people.
‘I work with the best doing that show. It’s been great. Everything, every part of the process has something very special, and it’s because of the people involved.’
There is a lot of anticipation for Andor, especially considering fans already know the next season will be its last.
So what, if anything, could Diego tell us about what viewers can expect from the drama’s swansong?
‘Oh my god, no I can’t say much,’ he admitted.
‘The only thing I can say is that this show has shown me how patient I can be. We’ve been working for a long time, and I can’t talk too much about it, but I can tell you, the wait is worth [it].’
He then gave a five word vow about the journey that awaits, stating: ‘The amount of work behind the second season… and I think that the connection between the audience and the characters – it’s going to pay out.’
It’s been more than two years now since Andor came out, and some people might feel as though that’s already a long-enough wait.
Nonetheless, Diego pointed out that in life there are sometimes ‘things you wait too long for’ – and in the case of Andor, ‘it’s not going to feel like that’.
‘The beauty of this second season is that you can go straight to watch Rogue One, and it’s going to have a different meaning. It’s going to look different and feel different,’ he promised.
