
Senior animatronics designer Josh Lee is the eleventh guest confirmed as attending Thank the Maker, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, at St Swithun’s School in Winchester, Hampshire on October 17th, 2026.
Josh joins previously announced guests including ILM visual effects professional Claudio Bassi, Electronic design and development supervisor Matt Denton, vice president of visual effects at Lucasfilm TJ Falls, Andor’s lead graphic designer Barry Gingell, Andor’s season 2 graphic designer Tereza Hudkova, Andor’s visual effects supervisor Scott Pritchard, graphics designer Dominic Sikking, Lucasfilm’s vice president of physical production Adam Teeuw, hand props and weapons painter Rut Villamagna and property master Jamie Wilkinson.

Josh Lee is a Senior Animatronics Designer specialising in the creation and development of practical creature and character effects for film and television. With a strong background in mechanical design and performance-driven engineering, Lee has contributed to a range of high-profile productions, helping to bring physically realised characters to life on screen.
His work includes contributions to major franchise filmmaking, including projects within the Star Wars universe, where he has been involved in the design and execution of animatronic elements that enhance both realism and performance. Collaborating closely with creature effects teams, designers, and directors, Lee’s work focuses on ensuring that practical builds not only function seamlessly but also support storytelling at the highest level.
As a Senior Animatronics Designer, he plays a key role in developing complex mechanical systems, refining movement, and integrating electronics and control systems to achieve lifelike performance. His expertise bridges the gap between engineering and artistry, allowing productions to capture authentic, in-camera effects that complement modern visual techniques.
