BB-8 puppeteer Brian Herring shares the news that Spitting Image will honor the late Phil Eason, who died earlier this year, by adding his caricature to the roster of additional players for the season.
As many of you know, we sadly lost Phil Eason this year.
Phil was a great friend and a brilliant puppeteer and builder.
His many jobs over the years included; Wizadora, Tiny & Crew, The Ark, Yonderland, Mr Blooms’ Nursery, Dark Crystal Age of Resistance, Labyrinth, Little Shop of Horrors, Lost In Space, Never Ending Story 3, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, countless commercials and animatronics projects for The Henson Creature Shop and Yaddle in Star Wars Episode I
Phil was also a stalwart member of the Spitting Image team from the 80’s onwards. He had returned to the show for the new incarnation last year, completing the first series before his passing.
As a tribute to Phil and with the blessing of his family, the Spitting Image team have added his caricature to their roster of additional players this year.
I can’t imagine a better way to honour him than to have him appear in various outfits, doing funny voices and wearing ridiculous hats. I think he’d be tickled pink.
We all miss him very much. Personally, this puppet makes me smile whenever I see it.
F.A.B Phil.
